The SDE+ is a Dutch government policy that subsidises various forms of renewable electricity and heat generation. Projects generating energy from biomass, geothermal, hydro, wind and solar are eligible to apply. Subsidies are awarded through an auction, which happens in Spring and Autumn each year. The value of the subsidy is linked to the underlying market price, such that the combination of subsidy and energy price means projects receive a fixed income stream.
